From arid regions around the world – Madagascar to Mexico and the deserts of Namaqualand in southwest Africa – this collection displays a remarkable diversity of shape and colour.

These striking plants have been chosen for minimal water use and their natural resilience to the impacts of climate change, such as lower rainfall averages and fluctuating temperatures.

In recognition of the deep history and culture of this island, the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens wishes to acknowledge the Muwinina people - the traditional owners and custodians of the land upon which the Gardens is built.
