The Lily Pond was established in 1848 as a reservoir to provide a constant supply of fresh water to the Gardens. The pond itself is a shallow, triangular body of water approximately 1200 square metres in area. Paths take visitors to all points around the pond and the surrounding beds have been planted with a diverse range of perennials, shrubs and trees. In 2018, a multi-level timber deck was constructed to mark the bicentenary anniversary of the Gardens.
