​Established in 1996, this collection was predominantly wild-sourced by members of the Gardens team from altitudes of 2000–5000 metres in the Yunnan Province of China near the Tibetan border.

Featuring a layer of deciduous and evergreen trees underplanted with shrubs and ground cover, the setting for the collection incorporates traditional garden elements including stone lions and stylised stone balustrades.
